The Tarot Study Forum

Main Entry: 1study
Pronunciation: 'st&-dE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural stud·ies
Etymology: Middle English studie , from Old French estudie, from Latin studium, from studEre to devote oneself, study; probably akin to Latin tundere to beat

Definition : application of the mental faculties to the acquisition of knowledge < years of study b : such application in a particular field or to a specific subject < the study of Latin (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

This Study Forum has been set up to provide students of the Tarot with a space for a more contemplative study of this discipline, as opposed to, for example, frenzied excitement each time a new gimmick-deck appears on the market to satisfy the masses and their need for instant gratification.

Members are welcome to speak about any Tarot topic, but are pre-warned before they register that we have a rather low tolerance level for superstition, hogwash and mystical babble. Questions and theories such as "Will my old tarot deck be jealous of my new tarot deck?", "Do I have to sleep with my Tarot deck under my pillow in order to bond with it?", or "I think there are evil spirits speaking through my Tarot deck and I want to know how to cleanse it", may receive answers that people who believe in such nonsense may not appreciate. But if you can cope with people speaking their mind and giving honest opinions, well, by all means, post away! All Students of Tarot are welcome here.

There is also a very large section devoted solely to the Tarot of Marseilles. Many of the threads were transferred from the sister board, The Tarot of Marseilles Study Forum which closed in January 2007. We recommend this section to all students of this great Tradition.
